      Sodium Propionate is the sodium salt of propionic acid, commonly used as a mold inhibitor in baked goods, cheeses, and other processed foods. It works by interfering with the growth and reproduction of fungi, especially molds and certain bacteria that cause spoilage.

      Approved by FDA, EFSA, FAO/WHO, and many national food safety authorities, Sodium Propionate is considered safe for human consumption and is included in the GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) list in the United States.

      It is odorless or has a faint smell of propionic acid, and its stability under heat and wide pH range (pH 5–7) makes it suitable for industrial food processing.
